Twenty by twenty, and the solution wanders across nearly the whole sheet on purpose. There are fewer dead ends here than in an easy maze, and that is the difficulty: the ones that exist run long, so a wrong turn costs a dozen cells before it admits it.

About this puzzle

The hard level turns the dial towards the recursive backtracker: few dead ends, but long ones, and a solution that runs about nine tenths of the longest route the grid could hold. It is still a perfect maze with exactly one way through, and that one way is printed on the second page.

The way through this particular maze is 109 cells long and passes 23 junctions, with 58 dead ends waiting on either side of it.
